HOW TO PLAY

Five Card Stud poker has four rounds of betting and is the oldest form of Stud Poker.

As with other forms of poker the object of the game is to finish with the best hand and win the pot.

To play you must have enough chips on the table to place an ante and a bet and then the game proceeds as follows: Place an ante on the table but note the following, the ante is set by the Card Room and there is no ante for €0.50/€1.00 tables.

Each player is dealt two cards, one pocket card and one card face up. The player with the lowest card showing by suit must bring in the betting but please note suits are ranked form low to high – Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades.

In the second round another card is dealt face up to all players at the table.

A round of betting then follows where a player can raise, call or fold. This process continues until each player has one pocket card and four face up cards. After the final face up card is dealt to each player a final round of betting follows.  All remaining players display their pocket card and the highest hand wins.
